چکیده
Abstract The striped cucumber beetle [StCB; Acalymma vittatum (F.) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)] and the western [WStCB; trivittatum (Mannerheim)] are closely related species of herbivores endemic to North America that specialize on Cucurbitaceae plants. StCB WStCB key pests cucurbit crops can reduce quantity quality yield or even kill plants, especially seedlings, by feeding vectoring pathogens. Insecticides be used control WStCB, but a number more selective nonchemical management methods also available help these pests. Here, we describe biology, life stages, damage caused discuss for managing in crops.

J. Econ. Entomol. ii: 1144-1148 (1984) ABSTRACT Seed oils of many sapindaceous plants contain substantial amounts of cyanolipids. Several of these oils stimulated aggregation of the sawtoothed grain beetle, Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.), and the confused flour beetle, Tribolium confusum (Jacquelin duVal). In a pitfall bioassay, they attracted the sawtoothed grain beetle and the rice weevil, Si...

The striped cucumber beetle, Acalymma vittatum (F.) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), is a key pest of cucurbit crops throughout its range. A novel precision band applicator was designed to inject a solid stream of imidacloprid solution in-furrow directly over the seed during planting to reduce beetle leaf feeding on pumpkin, zucchini, and cucumber crops. In 2004 and 2005, bioassays at the cotyledon...

Aggregation behavior of adult western spotted cucumber beetles (Diabrotica undecimpunctata undecimpunctata Mannerheim) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) was examined in six snap bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) fields adjacent to corn fields in western Oregon in 2004-2006. In the 2004 and 2005 studies, sweep net sampling was used to estimate beetle numbers along transect lines running perpendicular to the e...
متن کاملThe Common Asparagus Beetle and Spotted Asparagus Beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae): Identification, Ecology, andManagement
The common and spotted asparagus beetles (Crioceris asparagi (L.) and Crioceris duodecimpunctata (L.), respectively) are host-specific pests of asparagus, and frequently occur wherever asparagus is grown. The common asparagus beetle is the more serious of the two pests. It emerges earlier in the season, and both adults and larvae can cause damage to the asparagus crop by chewing spears and remo...

Field and laboratory studies were conducted to examine the relationship between foliar feeding damage caused by striped cucumber beetle, Acalymma vittatum (F.) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), and yield of pumpkin, Cucurbita pepo L. (var. Spookie). In field trials in 1996 and 1997, plants were artificially infested with varying numbers of beetles at the cotyledon-, first-, second-, or third-leaf st...
